Another electricity-related danger at school

Primary school pupils endangered by open electric substations.

A concerned resident from Witpoortjie has brought a dangerous situation to the Record’s attention.

At the Stumke Street entrance of Princess Primary School there are not one, but two electricity boxes that are open and accessible to the public as well as the school’s young pupils.

When the Record visited the site it was alarming to see children, possibly not older than five years, playing metres away from these boxes on the other side of the fence.

Hundreds of pupils have to pass these open stations at least twice a day (to and from school) and there could be a tragedy if one of the children’s natural tendency to curiosity overcame them.

The Record did inform the headmaster as well as City Power.
