Rescued Lake Lucy Brown’s pups need homes
Community's rescued darling gives birth to nine puppies.
On 17 January the Record published the heart-warming story of how residents in the Florida Lake area took a slightly bewildered cross-breed bitch under their wing and with love and a community effort nursed her back to health.
Named Lake Lucy Brown after the Florida Lake and a song, the dog also was highly pregnant and in the early hours of the day after the article was published, she gave birth to nine puppies.
The Record followed up with one of the main rescuers, Sarette Vos.
“We want to thank the public for all the beautiful messages and phone calls. Thank you to all who have helped with donations for food and medical care,” say Sarette.
“The pups are now six weeks old and our time with them is running out. Since their birth the once “street pups” now have birth certificates and ID collars with our contact numbers on. (The dogs also have been inoculated and de-wormed.)
All the pups were named “water” in different languages as they come from Florida Lake – Uji (female), Ilma (female), Amanzi (male), Rano (male), Aqua (male), Zau (male), Tau (female), Nero (male) and Abba (male).
Those interested in adopting a puppy and becoming part of this heart-warming story can contact Sarette Vos on 082 373 3213 or email sarettevos@gmail.com.
