Vagrants invade Florida swimming pool

Lax security leads to vagrant invasion.

The Florida municipal swimming pool is one of the City’s most prized but neglected jewels.

While the Record was investigating irregularities surrounding this facility, it came across another brewing problem.

A beautiful utility building at the back entrance of the Florida swimming pool has been invaded by vagrants. This problem could be owing to many reasons.

Firstly, there is a gate at the entrance that seemingly no one is taking responsibility for. The gate is open 24 hours a day. Secondly, there is a breach in the perimeter fencing that allows access to unwanted guests. Finally there is a security guard on duty but he does not leave his shed and patrol the grounds pro-actively.

The building has been stripped of every valuable item that can be sold and it is rumoured that drugs are being peddled from there and that the little bridge behind it also serves as a popular spot for the consumption for drugs. The little courtyard at the back of the building also seems to be used for growing dagga.

“This is another example of the City turning its back on the West Rand. No one wants to take responsibility for these beautiful jewels that are fading under our noses,” says local Councillor Dave Dewes.
