Miss Roodepoort has her perks
Jessica van Heerden (20) will use a sponsored vehicle during her 2014 reign as Miss Roodepoort.
Being selected as Miss Roodepoort 2013 not only brings about its duties and responsibilities but also its perks, former Miss Roodepoort Leander Blignaut from Limelite Models told the Record on Thursday 23 January.
On Tuesday 21 January Jessica van Heerden (20) who was selected as Miss Roodepoort during a 2013 pageant received her sponsored Volkswagen Polo Vivo from The Cartique in Randburg. The vehicle is said to be worth around R150 000 and Blignaut explained that it is sponsored to ensure Jessica gets to the various events, charities and meetings she’ll be attending during her 2014 reign.
“By the end of January the Miss Roodepoort title holder, in this case Jessica, will be expected to give us a breakdown of what her plans are and which charities she’ll be involved with during her reign.
“The judges chose Jessica because she is the complete package – she’s a driven and motivated young girl, a people’s person who strives to uplift her community.
“I believe that by the end of the year she’ll have left new footsteps for the next Miss Roodepoort to follow in.”
Blignaut described the Miss Roodepoort pageant as a platform for young women to further their dreams.
