Metrobus to change route after bus is torched

In the light of protesters torching a Metrobus on South Road on the evening of 15 January, the service entity has taken measures in the form of taking an alternative route.

As of 16 January, management at the Roodepoort Depot will divert all R412 (Witpoortjie) buses from the Westgate terminus to Progress Road in order to avoid South Road (this will apply to both morning and afternoon buses) until further notice. Dispatchers at Gandhi Square and Westgate terminals will inform drivers of the route deviation.

Motorists are advised also to avoid this road for the time being as well as the stretch of Albertina Sisulu Road passing the informal settlement, which is currently still closed.
