Preparations for West Rand paddlers for the upcoming 2014 Dusi seem to be well on track.
With just a few weeks to go until the Unlimited Dusi event in February, numerous paddlers are hard at work to take on
one of the world’s toughest endurance races.
Two of them are the West Rand doubles pair, Jandré Bezuidenhout (Randfontein) and Emile Theunissen (Florida).The two recently teamed up to test their doubles partnership by participating in a 50 mile-two-day-river-race on the Umsindusi River between Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
They finished as top finishers from the Florida Lake Canoe Club (FLCC) and the West Rand area in five hours and 29 minutes and 77th position overall.
