Lions and Dis-Chem hold diabetes awareness drive

On 30 November the Lions, in conjunction with Dis-Chem, held a diabetes awareness drive in front of the pharmacy in Westgate Shopping Centre.

Qualified nurses were on duty to give information and test patients. Dis-Chem also made the testing devices freely available to those who needed them and only the testing strips had to be paid for.

In serious cases sufferers were referred to their doctors.

There were also plenty of printed material available with information about diet and exercise, as well as the different types of diabetes.
