Whites to be murdered?

Week after week we hear musician-turned-politicians’ rants about issues that peeve them.

The latest “story” doing the rounds is that of Banana Newsline titled Chaos after death of Mandela published in July already.

A section of this article was copied and is doing the rounds on facebook, causing concern in some quarters.

Banana Newsline does not pretend to be a credible news source. In fact, below their article they state that they are not.

Subsequently I copied this disclaimer from their site and sent it to every distributor of this story, however only some bothered to read my comment.

But the damage is done. There are people who fear for their lives – again.

What have we learnt? While I do think it was irresponsible to cook up such a story in the first place, every self-proclaimed politician and concerned citizen should do their homework before spreading rumours.
