Former Lion honoured with carols
Former Wilro Lion Molly Francis honoured annually with a carols by candlelight event.
The Lions Club of Wilro Park will be switching on their Christmas lights in the garden of the Community Centre early this December.
On 8 December from 6.30pm they’ll be hosting a special Carols by Candlelight night for residents. The Centre is located at 16 Belladonna Street in Roodekrans.
“All are invited to bring a picnic basket along and have fun with us,” says Sandy van Heerden, Wilro Lions spokesperson.
She explains that the event is held every year in celebration of former Lion Molly Francis.
“She had hair of silver and a heart of gold and passed away on Christmas Day three years ago, and we like to celebrate her.
“Molly was a member of our club for 25 years.”
Although entrance is free, Sandy urges residents to donate treats to add to food parcels for less privileged people. These food parcels will be delivered on Christmas.
“All donations, no matter how big or small, will be much appreciated.”
