A smorgasbord of comedy

Join comedian Nadiem Solomon for another hilarious night at the Roodepoort Theatre.

Though most people won’t recognise the word ‘smorgasbord’, Nadiem Solomon uses it to describe the great variety of his show, the Sooffah Comedy Couch.

Previously the Record had reported that the Comedy Couch is one of the few comedy shows Roodepoorters can enjoy locally.

Nadiem, a comedian and master of ceremonies, spoke to the Record about the way in which the show has progressed since its debut.

“The first show of the Sooffah Comedy Couch was performed to a capacity crowd and received high praise for delivering on clean, intelligent and cutting-edge comedy.

“Many people complained of aching lungs and abdominal pains the next day, but that’s their own fault for having low expectations!”

The Comedy Couch will return to the Roodepoort Theatre’s Basement Theatre on Friday 25 October at 7pm. Many well-known and new faces will entertain the crowd in this intimate theatre.

“The line-up includes Gavin Kelly (featured on Comedy Central), Tshireletso Mo Mothebe (from Monash South Africa) and the godfather of South African comedy, Mel Miller (as remembered from Biltong and Pot-roast).

“Also featured are up-and-coming comedy stars Erich Viedge, Hope Maart, Howard Teng and Jazz pianist sensation Julian Moses.”

Solomon has shared the stage with several of South Africa’s best comedy acts and is the founder of A Cause for Comedy, producing a variety of comedic shows aimed at raising funds for charitable causes.

Join Nadiem on Friday 25 October at the Roodepoort Basement Theatre (previously Promusica) on Christiaan de Wet Road at 7pm. Tickets cost R80 per person and enquiries can be taken up with Nadiem himself on 082 373 9483.
