Six injured in three-vehicle collision

"All transported to hospital for further treatment" – ER24.

Six people sustained light to moderate injuries following a three-vehicle collision at the corner of Impala Avenue and Ruhamah Street in Helderkruin on Tuesday afternoon 15 October.

All occupants had to be transported to hospital for further treatment. Five of the six were transported by ER24 and one patient by Netcare 911.

Although the exact cause of the accident is unknown and under investigation, it’s said that the Toyota Corolla almost had made its way across Ruhamah into Impala Avenue when a Toyota Camry (travelling up Ruhamah) and a Hyundai Getz (coming down Ruhamah) collided with it.

According to ER24 paramedics on scene the Corolla had three occupants (two women and a youngster), the

Camry two and only the driver was in the Getz.

Once again, while it is unclear as to who was at fault, the Record saw that at the intersection where the accident occurred, there was neither a stop sign nor clear road markings indicating that one should stop.

“There has been no stop sign on that corner for at least three to four months. If you do not know the area, you are not going to stop and just cross,” people living close by say.

Joburg EMS were on scene to assist as the Corolla’s driver’s seat had to be cut to free the driver.
