15+ pupils show faith at accident scene

Roodies pray for fellow pupil at accident scene.

A matriculant sustained moderate injuries and had to be transported to hospital following a collision between his motorcycle and a light motor vehicle on Sonop Street in Horison early on Tuesday morning 15 October.

The Record can confirm that the motorcyclist is a matric pupil at Hoërskool Roodepoort and that he was on his way to school when the accident happened.

Considering the fact that there had been many fatal accidents involving motorcyclists and motorists in Roodepoort over the past few weeks, it was remarkable to see more than 15 pupils forming a circle in prayer at the accident scene.

One Help24 employee said, “It was something heart-warming to see”.

It is believed that the pupil has been treated at the Netcare Krugersdorp Private Hospital.

A1 Assist tow truck driver, Henk van den Berg who was one of the first on the scene described the events. “The boy was travelling down Sonop Street when he collided with a Chubb Security vehicle that crossed the road from Kilburn Street into Andrew Street.”
