Six injured in three-vehicle collision

"All transported to hospital for further treatment" – ER24.

Six people sustained light to moderate injuries following a three-vehicle collision at the corner of Impala Avenue and Ruhamah Street in Helderkruin on Tuesday afternoon, 15 October.

All occupants had to be transported to hospital for further treatment. Five of the six were transported by ER24 and one patient by Netcare 911.

Although the exact cause of the accident is unknown and under investigation, it’s said that the Corolla had almost made its way over Ruhamah into Impala Avenue when a Toyota Camry (travelling up Ruhamah) and Hyundai Getz (coming down Ruhamah) collided with it.

According to ER24 paramedics on scene there were three occupants inside the Corolla (two woman and a youngster); two inside the

Camry and one driving the Getz.

Once again, while it is unclear to who was at fault, at the Record’s arrival it was clear that there was no stop sign or clear road marks indicating that one should stop.

Nearby residents say that, “There has been no stop sign on that corner for at least three to four months. If you do not know the area, you are not going to stop and just cross”.

Joburg EMS were also on scene to assist as the Toyota Corolla’s driver’s seat had to be completely cut to free the driver.
