Celebrate spring at Kloofendal

FroK invites residents to adventure at Kloofendal during October.

Enjoy the warm air that comes with spring at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve during October.

Neville Roberts, secretary of the Friends of Kloofendal (FroK) committee, recommends some upcoming Kloofendal events to residents.

Residents are invited to book a nature walk at the Kloofendal Nature Reserve on 20 October from 2pm to 4pm. Grant Egen will take residents on an adventurous tour of the reserve. The walk costs R50 per adult and R25 per child. Alternatively, children can enter into the Junior Ranger Programme held on the same day. The programme is suited for children between five and 12 years old and costs R80 per child.

On the weekend of Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October the whole family can enjoy a gold mine adventure where children can learn about gold panning and adults can enjoy a gold mine tour. The gold panning learning adventure starts at 9am on Saturday and the tours are from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday. Adults and children aged 15 years and older pay R50.

The highlight this October, according to Roberts, is a fungi/ mushroom course followed by a walk in the reserve on Sunday 27 October from 9am to 12pm. The course costs R120 per attendee.

“Always attend every outdoor event with your hat, sunscreen and a water bottle,” Roberts urges.

Residents can book either with Karin on 079 693 5608 or Anthea on 084 337 2929. For more information, visit https://www.kloofendalfriends.org.za.
