Seven injured in head-on collision

Exact cause of the collision not yet known.

Six people including a toddler sustained various injuries in a head-on collision on the evening of 21 September on Christiaan De Wet Road, Roodepoort.

Paramedics that arrived on the scene found that two vehicles collided head-on with each other. A 59-year-old woman, a man in his 40’s and a toddler was found in one of the vehicles with several injuries. The woman was in a critical condition and rushed off to Olivedale Clinic after she was extricated from the vehicle. The man and the toddler sustained moderate injuries and were transported to Life Flora Clinic for further care.

Paramedics found two cyclists sitting on the side of the road near the collision site. Bystanders explained that they came off their bicycles when they tried to avoid the two vehicles colliding with them. They sustained only minor injuries and were assessed on the scene.

The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to hospital. He sustained minor injuries in the collision.

The exact cause of the collision is not yet known. The local emergency services also attended the incident.
