I had a situation on Saturday 7 September when my dog Candice was hurt badly. She was limping and it was not looking good. Someone directed me to the Roodepoort SPCA (that’s what I thought the place was).
On arrival I discovered it was not the Roodepoort SPCA but the Progressive Dog Training Centre. A woman named Lesley de Klerk was so helpful, asking to see my dog.
Lesley and her other colleague immediately dressed Candice’s wound and then directed me to Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw). She noticed that I did not know the place and specially told one of her staff members, Thato to accompany me.
I was so touched by her generosity and the way she tried to help my dog even though she does not deal with such issues, being an animal trainer.
My dog was admitted at Claw where the veterinarian told me that one of my dog’s nerves were damaged.
Lesley and her colleagues really made my day after it starting on a bad note. Lesley can be contacted on 082 901 8267 or via email at lesley.deklerk@pixie.co.za.
If South Africa can have more people like her, positive change would be inevitable. These kinds of people are what we need in this country!
