Motorist crashes through wall, into garage
Female motorist's vehicle parked in garage after going through the wall and garage door.
A resident redefined the term ‘breaking and entering’ when her vehicle was driven through a wall and neatly through the garage door on the afternoon of Wednesday 18 September.
On Corlett Avenue at around 2.30pm, eyewitnesses say that the female motorist tried to pass the vehicle in front of her by driving onto the sidewalk when her plan went terribly wrong. Eyewitnesses believe that a misjudgement or a rock on the sidewalk could have caused her Chevrolet Orlando to lose control and speed through the wall and subsequently through the garage door into the garage.
“Not exactly a neat parking job,” one of the witnesses on scene said, describing it to the Record.
The woman sustained neck injuries and was taken to Tshepo-Themba Private Hospital in Dobsonville by ER24 paramedics.
Buhle Sitwe, the owner of the property which was damaged in the process, could not believe the collision she just witnessed.
Sitwe was sitting outside when the vehicle came speeding through. Sitwe has been living in Witpoortjie since 2009.
“My husband is on his way home.
“Our insurance brokers will come and assess the situation before we might make use of Help24,” Sitwe said about the towtrucks on scene.
“This accident should be recorded as the world’s funniest accident,” an eyewitness said as he walked away laughing.
It is unclear whether a breathaliser test was performed on the female motorist. JMPD officers have not arrived on scene by the time the Record left at 3.45pm.
