MTN hosts sampling of Joburg Day performances

A special performance at MTN headquarters got residents excited for Joburg Day.

MTN hosted a special sampling of the talent that can be expected at 94.7 Joburg Day 2013 on the early morning of Friday 13 September.

At the MTN headquarters on 14th Avenue in Fairlands, Roodepoort, a select group of residents, MTN personnel and journalists were granted the opportunity to see some of the artists perform live and to interact with the 94.7 Highveld Stereo presenters and staff.

Between 6.30am and 9am the audience were thrilled by the 94.7 Highveld Stereo Breakfast XPress show with presenters Darren Whackhead Simpson and Sam Cowen. In between some fresh performances by Black Byrd, GoldFish, The Parlotones and hip-hop artist Khuli Chana entertained crowds. The radio station hosted their breakfast show live from the headquarters, featuring interesting artists performing and talking about their music and Joburg Day.

Just back from the United States, The Parlotones collaborated with local hip-hop artist and vernacular rapper Khuli Chana on stage, followed by GoldFish performing their new hit single, 3 Second Memory.

Being on the West Rand, Dominic Peters of GoldFish told the Record that he was “so excited to be here”.

“This is such a great platform to interact with fans and music lovers in general.

“Don’t miss us at the official Joburg Day.”

Other artists, including big hits Jack Parow, Locnville, Elvis Blue, Prime Circle and Die Heuwels Fantasties will be giving their audience everything they have on stage at Crocodile Creek Polo Club on Saturday 14 September.

Although tickets for the Joburg Day festival is sold out, Darren Simpson mentioned during the live broadcast and on twitter that he still is giving away four tickets to loyal listeners on Friday.
