Colourful and well-decorated cupcakes and mouth-watering boerewors rolls were only some of the many products for sale at Florida Park High School’s first-ever Moir’s Market Day in association with Hulett Sugar.
According to Consumer Studies educator, Avril Ryan the market day was targeted at Grade 10 and 11 Consumer Study pupils as it forms part of the syllabus – entrepreneurship. She also confirmed that a total of 80 Grade 10 and 60 Grade 11 pupils took part.
Pupils sold a wide variety of high-quality homemade eats and treats such as coconut ice, cake pops, cupcakes, toffee apples and of course boerewors rolls. The boerewors stall’s delicious recipe of tomato gravy with sugar and mazina proved too much competition for the rest as the stall made R1 750 profit.
Avril lauds all pupils for their hard work and creativity.
“The point of the day was to encourage entrepreneurship amongst the pupils. All recipes had to include a Huletts and Moir’s product,” says Avril.
“All in all, it was a wonderful experience for the pupils and they had lots of fun preparing for the day and enjoyed the music that was part of the entertainment for the day.”
