‘Jack in the shack’ might go awry
Email leaked to Record about possible interuption of DA's Jack in a shack tour.
DA spokesperson for Health and Gauteng Caucus Leader, Jack Bloom, is on the West Rand again today, 27 August, to visit “the forgotten people of Roodepoort” at the Leratong Village informal settlement.
The visit, popularly know as Jack in a shack will see Bloom touring the settlement to establish the needs and challenges of those who live there.
In 2012 Bloom’s visit to the informal settlement turned ugly when residents took to the streets and burned tyres, voicing their unhappiness about the arrest of a South African National Civics Organisation (Sanco) member, allegedly on a false murder charge.
An email has been leaked to the Record in which Bloom has approached the region’s DA councillors and other supporters to join him since he caught wind of an alleged ANC plan to disrupt and stop the visit.
DA Youth Constituency Leader and resident of Tsepisong, David Masina, told the Record that the disruption is not just a rumour and wanted to warn publicly that if any attack against Bloom takes place, the DA would know who was behind it.
The Record contacted the alleged planner of the attack but she denied the allegation.
