Expand your horizons with Toastmasters

The Florida Toastmasters invites residents to work on their interpersonal skills.

Every first and second Tuesday of the month from 7pm to 7.30pm the Florida Toastmasters Club meets at the Huguenot Restaurant at Flora Centre, which is located on Ontdekkers Road. The club usually organises the meetings to discuss matters such as skills development techniques for individuals, as well as enthusiastic ways to develop communities and small businesses.

However, this time around the club is looking into developing interpersonal skills to prepare you for the pros and cons of the working environment.

“The biggest mistake you could make is to overlook the need to develop your skills.

“Your managerial skills have to be polished often in order for you to keep track of potential obstacles that may arise, like situations that may require exclusive communication skills or networking skills,” says Dawn Hemming, Florida Toastmasters public relations officer.

“Nevertheless, you don’t wish to be seen as just another ordinary person at work, but you may want others to view you as the ‘unforgettable person’ at work,” Hemming told the Record.

That is the kind of competence the club seeks to implement for your success – effective management skills. For this reason, Toastmasters offers you an on-the-job training programme at a low price to enhance your leadership skills.
