The CPF Broad Forum has piloted an initiative to show appreciation for SAPS officers who hold the men in blue’s name high.
On 18 June the Florida SAPS Management in conjunction with the Florida CPF handed over Certificates of Appreciation in the Florida SAPS hall.
Warrant Officer MW Fitzpatrick and Constable JL Masoga received certificates for rendering outstanding service after they arrested five suspects who tried to rob a business in Main Street, Unified on 30 December 2012.
Captain SK Mogotlane and Constable P Sekele received certificates for rendering outstanding service after they arrested three suspects in Discovery for possession of drugs and an unlicensed firearm on 27 January.
This incident occurred whilst they were off duty, which makes it even more exceptional.
Finally Detective Constable HC Lelahane also received certificates for rendering outstanding service after assisting a member of the public in pursuing and arresting a suspect for the theft of copper pipes at the Post Office in Florida in April 2013.
The Florida CPF hopes to make these gestures of appreciation once a month. Members of the public who would like to nominate SAPS officers can send their nominations plus a brief reason for the nomination to caleb@onflorida.org.za.
