One dead in Floracliffe accident

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage

A collision between an SUV and a minibus taxi just before the Gordon Road off-ramp on the N1 South yesterday, 7 May, claimed the life of one person.

According to Ross Campbell, ER24 spokesperson, the SUV, driven by a man in his 60s, rear-ended the taxi. “When paramedics along with other services arrived on scene at 5pm, they found that bystanders had already extracted the man from his vehicle.

Advanced life support interventions were initiated in an attempt to resuscitate him; however, his injuries were too severe and he, unfortunately, passed away,” Campbell explained.

He added that the driver of the taxi had suffered minor injuries and declined transport to hospital for further treatment.

Campbell also confirmed that the taxi had no passengers at the time.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, but the Fire Department and JMPD were on scene for further investigations.
