City Power has notified those living around the Florida CBD of emergency maintenance that needs to be done on the Fieldhouse Switching Station.
The maintenance is scheduled for Sunday, 12 April, and even though the power entity had suspended all maintenance during the lockdown period, the state of this switching station has been deemed critical due to a fire that was caused by suspected vandalism in early March.
City Power has said even though they would like to keep power on during this time, this emergency maintenance needs to be conducted as soon as possible to avoid possible long-lasting effects.
From 7am to 3pm on 12 April, the following areas will be without power:
• 1st Avenue
• 2nd Avenue
• 3rd Avenue
• The Highway (The HWY)
• Fieldhouse Street
• Church Street
• Goldman Street
• Plaza Road
• Olivier Street
• Groenewald Street
The power could return at any point during the day, so all supply points should be treated as live at all times. City Power would also like to remind residents that this planned maintenance is subject to cancellation in the event of load-shedding on the same day.
For further information or clarity, residents can call the City Power Call Centre on 0860 JOBURG (0860 562 874).
