WATCH: Armed criminals get sanitized before robbing retail pawnbroker

CCTV footage of the recent armed robbery at Cash Converters at Hillfox Value Centre in Weltevreden Park has surfaced online.

The footage posted by Suburban Control Services shows a group of men entering the store and complying with the Covid-19 hand sanitizing protocol. Their hands are sanitized by an in-store guard and after that one walks straight to the cashiers and holds them at gunpoint, while others accost the other workers and order them to fill a plastic bag with electronics.

The incident happened on Sunday, 22 March. Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Station, Captain Balan Muthan, confirmed a case against the seven armed men, but no arrests have been confirmed yet.

The criminals are said to have fled the scene in two vehicles – a white Toyota Etios with the registration number JC42MFGP, and a silver Toyota Egos with the registration HH10MMGP.
