New home for the 1st Strubens Valley Scout Group

1st Strubens Valley Scout Group has taken up residence at its new home at The King’s School West Rand in Poortview.
The Scout Movement is an international organisation dedicated to helping boys and girls achieve their full potential and learn valuable life skills.
“We invite the community to come and see if they have what it takes to become a scout. We can teach you amazing things but most of all you will learn about yourself,” said Scout group leader, Mark Norris.
Scouts consists of four branches:
• Meerkats for boys and girls ages five to seven
• Cubs for boys and girls ages seven to 11
• Scouts for boys and girls ages 11 to 18
• Rovers from 18 years and older
The 1st Strubens Valley Scout Group was founded on 16 February 1995. For some it is about being part of the environment, and for others it is a means of learning new things.
According to Troup Scouter, Angie Wright, Scouts are about getting to know yourself and becoming the best version of yourself. It is also about the sense of belonging.
Members of the community interested in joining the Scouts, take note the Cubs meet on Fridays from 5.30pm to 7pm, and the Scouts meet on the same day from 7pm to 9pm.
