The community continues to play electricity roulette as a combination of unplanned outages and load-shedding keeps the public guessing. Suspected cable theft and faulty infrastructure are cited as the probable reasons for the outage being experienced in the Florida Lake, Hamberg and Rand Leases areas since about 9.30pm yesterday, 18 February.
Two faulty feeder cables have been identified and technicians are currently attending to the problem. “We have located one and are busy with repairs. We are busy locating another one,” said City Power’s media relations manager, Isaac Mangena.
City Power is not sure exactly when the power will be restored, but Mangena has asked residents to please be patient while they do their best. “Cable theft is also suspected. The community should bear with us as we fix this. Currently we have no ETR,” pleaded Mangena.
Updates on the issue will be published when information comes to light.
