By approximately 6.15am this morning, 18 February, residents in several areas were updated on the progress with restoring their electricity supply.
Residents of Wilro Park, Honeydew, Strubens Valley, Weltevreden Park, Wilgeheuwel, Radiokop, Honeydew Ridge, Constantia Kloof, Randpark Ridge, Allen’s Nek, Amarosa, Little Falls, and surrounding areas were expressing their anger at their lack of electricity after load-shedding had been suspended. City Power then took to Twitter to notify residents that restorations were 97 per cent complete.

However, more than six hours later, City Power was still busy with that last three per cent and the only information given was that the technical team was busy with repairs. Technicians were on site at 6.15am, but no estimated time of restoration (ETR) could be provided.
At approximately 12.05pm City Power provided an update on the #RoodepoortOutage explaining why it was taking so long to complete. The entity said they were struggling to locate and repair the fault because the power cables are extremely deep, owing to the Rand Water Project. They have been busy repairing the one feeder cable but unfortunately another has failed.
According to David Brand, Ward 126 councillor, the entity is attempting to restore as much power as possible with their remaining feeder cable.
City Power has not given a specific time of restoration, but has said that if everything goes according to plan, the ETR is set for this evening.
