The suspects allegedly took the victim and the car in the hijacking and a lookout was given to multiple security services around Johannesburg West.

While information was being gathered, the wife of the victim received a phone call from him notifying her that the suspects let him go near Nasrec whereby he could make contact with family.

CPF members immediately made their way to the location and found the victim there, other family members also arrived and they were all escorted back to the residence where the incident took place.

Fortunately, the victim was unharmed and the Honeydew Victim Support was also on scene to assist with counselling for the family members.

“We as Honeydew Community Police Forum urge members of the public to be vigilant at all times when driving. Before you enter your driveway look at your surroundings and see if someone is following you. Should you feel uneasy, continue past your house and drive to a safe location or contact your security company. Never turn into your driveway while you wait for your gate to open. Always stand in such a position that if something does happen you can just take off,” advised Steyn.

Honeydew Police Station Spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan confirmed that a case of hijacking was opened at the station and that the matter is under investigation.
