Sunny skies and sizzling temperatures turned to monsoon rains within the space of an hour on Friday afternoon, 7 Febuary. The next 36 hous left a trail of destruction through the city.
The onslaught of often horizontally falling water left many of those looking forward to their weekends angry, frustrated and desperate,struggling with power outages and internet cuts. A standard commute turned into a deranged scramble through gushing urban rivers with the most unfortunate stranded without a paddle.
Saturday, 8 February, brought more rain and the sharing of videos of the previous night’s carnage. From flooded shopping centres, exploding electrical connections to spectacular waterfalls.
