Cat in agony following pellet gun shooting

The wounded cat underwent a huge operation to have the pellet removed that had penetrated 4cm deep into its body.

A family cat is currently recovering from severe injuries after being shot with a pellet gun at a complex in Wilgeheuwel on Thursday, 30 January.

An angry animal lover, Clàudia de Lange vented on Facebook after the cat, belonging to her parents, had to undergo surgery.

“Someone shot my mom and dad’s cat with a pellet gun. They live in a complex on Emily Hobhouse Road (Wilgeheuwel). Who does that?” she asked.

“Whoever you are, you will get your day,” an upset Claudia said.

The Northsider advised Claudia to contact the local SPCA; however, she said she was told they could not do anything as the shooter was unknown.

Animal cruelty is a crime; anyone caught abusing an animal can either be reported to the SPCA or the police.
