Ringball club keeps the community active

Community invited to join the club for a social fun workout

The new year brings new motivation to reclaim that athletic body lost to inactivity. There are few better ways to do so than taking up a new activity that involves jumping, throwing and short sprints with the added bonus of meeting new people.

Warriors Ringball Club is a champion ringball club in Mindalore/ Witpoortjie, and they are inviting the community to their open practices to experience the fun and physicality of the game. Essentially a combination of netball and basketball, ringball would sound more familiar to most when mentioned by its original name, korfbal. The reason for the change in name was to align the South African national federation to international standards, allowing for international competition.

Warriors have been in existence for five years and are the reigning West Rand district champions. The club season runs from January to June, with the best district teams competing on a national level. There are also school leagues in October, giving young ones a grassroots taste for the game. Players can play socially to keep the heart rate up, or take a serious approach to aim for greater heights.

The club promotes a social and family-friendly atmosphere for members of all ages to enjoy and there is even a crèche available during practice sessions to look after the little ones while the adults work out.
