On Friday, 31 January a female victim was involved in an attempted hijacking on the cornner of Beyers Naude Drive and Peter Road just next to the Zandspruit informal settlement.
It is alleged that a male suspect emerged from the informal settlement and reached inside of the victim’s stationary vehicle opening the passenger door.
The suspect then jumped into the car and wrestled the driver who managed to fight him off, he then took off with a phone and vanished back into the informal settlement.
The community is advised to be alert when driving in the area especially when stopping at the traffic lights.
“These guys are fearless and have no problem attempting something so brazen in peak hour traffic,” said the victim.
