Paddlers on their way to SA Championships

Paddlers had the opportunity to practise their skills and meet the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The South African Canoe Polo Championships, hosted by Dabulamanzi Canoe Club will take place at Emmarentia Dam during the weekend of 21 and 22 March.

Canoe polo is a fun water sport of which the techniques are said to be similar to those of rugby. Paddlers have to defend the goal, be rough, tough, fast and furious to score goals, chase the ball, make their tackles, and keep up with the fast pace.

Numerous paddlers who enjoys this challenging sport are currently training hard and aiming for a spot on the teams to participate in the SA event.

During the Arnold Classic 2019 Sports Festival, paddlers had the opportunity to practise their skills, and as a bonus, met the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.

One of our very own residents, Ruhan Marx is training hard and fully expects to be selected for the Gauteng team to participate at the upcoming South African Canoe Polo Championships event. Currently he is trying out for the World Championships team to represent South Africa in Rome later this year.
