Discovery Primary achieving holistic results

Ensuring the children of Discovery have a pathway to success.

Education is more than just homework, textbooks and extra murals. The continued evaluation of gradual progress and the steady guided hands of skilled teachers combine to shape the youth into well-rounded adults.

Identifying potential anomalies or deviations in a child’s mental, physical or emotional well-being is a core characteristic of a Full Service School. Here, planning an appropriate response to dealing with these challenges and the seamless reintegration of the children becomes an achievable goal.

This is Discovery Primary School’s expanded mission and their exemplary performance was recognised at the National Education Excellence Awards. The school was awarded third place nationally, making it one of the top Full Service Schools in the country. Principal Raymond Peters chalks the award up to the greater school community saying, “We have such committed teachers and staff, and very supportive parents”.

The classroom is not the only sphere in which the school was honoured. Head of Sport, Tanya Meyer was acknowledged as Gauteng Department of Education’s Best Sports Administrator. A proud principal Peters reiterated his commitment to his school and the community it serves by stressing, “We have to do justice to our responsibility as educators and promote a culture of learning”. He did share his secret to success, which is his personal mantra. “Hard work and determination are the watchwords of success.”
