The teenage parents accusing Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital of negligence and failing to take responsibility for the injury of their newborn broke the internet as the Northsider’s followers weighed in on the matter.

The first-time, devastated parents Gaven Dahms and his girlfriend Taylin-Leigh Shellard accused the hospital of having had a hand in the injury of their daughter who mysteriously suffered a broken arm while in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the hospital.

Patrizia Rispoli Nicol said, “Good on you young parents. We should start demanding professionalism from institutes and not let it by.”

Frances Shortt added, “Sue them. There must be cameras to investigate further. Baby bones are weak and thin, and seeing she was premature, extra care should have been taken in handling her. My heart breaks for the parents.”

Lins Lindsay was puzzled by the hospital’s response. “They can’t find any evidence of negligence? Just take responsibility as the baby was in the NICU and not at home when it happened, and her parents were not there. So who the hell else is responsible?” she asked.

Alain Kabengele expressed concern about professionalism at hospitals. “If private hospitals are unprofessional, [just imagine] government hospitals. Dear God help us to always fall into ethical doctors and nurses’ hands for not all are unprofessional, “she stressed.

Veronica van Ede defended the health services. “I never judge on partial facts. There is always more than one side to a story. Our health care staff are under immense pressure and most are trying their best. There are also lots of people out there just trying to make a quick buck. I do feel for these young parents and hope their little one mends quickly,” she commented.

Amanda Nel concluded, “I was at Wilgeheuwel for two days [recently] and had a very good experience. The staff in all the departments I had to go to were wonderful.”
