Setting a precedent

Peter Wood from Wilro Park writes:

I read, with increasing disbelief, your article about the burnt-out, abandoned vehicle in Roodekrans, published in the Roodepoort Record of 17 January.

If the driver deliberately abandoned the vehicle, and ducked and dived to avoid JMPD, then why would he pay a stiff fine to recover a piece of scrap? JMPD have now used our tax money to transport the vehicle, and are now also stuck with a pile of junk, while the perpetrator walks away without any responsibility.

Surely this tells people that they can abandon their scrap vehicles anywhere, and leave JMPD to sort out the mess.
