Generosity overflows from ATKV

As one of their last initiatives for 2019, the ATKV Arendsnes Branch (which operates in Roodepoort) made two generous donations to two community projects on 2 December.

Both of the benefiting organisations dedicate their time to helping various community members who need a little support, so even the smallest donations go a long way.

The Roodepoort Sentrum vir Bejaardes (RSVB) and Abraham Kriel Bambanani each received a generous donation of R5 000 from the ATKV Arendsnes Branch.

The donations were sure to be put to good use by the well-deserving organisations that focus on community service.

Abraham Kriel Bambanani is a registered NPO that provides skills development and care for youth in need. The traumatized, young people this organisation focuses their work around are provided with shelter, physical care, rehabilitation, and skills development. The beneficiaries of this organisation have been subjected to trauma, neglect, poverty, unemployment, or abuse (both physical and sexual) and are cared for through residential care, community service, and educational programmes.

Riana Marx, manager at the Langlaagte Campus of Abraham Kriel Bambanani, happily accepted the donation on behalf of the organisation.

The Roodepoort Sentrum vir Bejaardes (RSVB) is situated in Discovery, and helps the elderly residents in their care without any government grants. The elderly care center caters for a variety of residents, including:

• Elderly people who can live completely independently on the premises (without help)

• Elderly people who are still very healthy but want to stay in their rooms and enjoy three meals a day

• Elderly people who are only partially self-sufficient

• Elderly people who require full time assistance as they cannot care for themselves

• Elderly people who suffer from various medical conditions like Alzheimer’s, and therefore need continuous and devoted care

The donation to RSVB was accepted by Center Manager, Jolene Peyper, and one of the qualified medical services staff members, Sister Jenny.

The donations to both organisations were accepted with grateful hearts and happy faces. With Abraham Kriel Bambanani being an NPO, and RSVB not getting government grants, the money that was donated helps the organisations continue to do their great work.

Making the donation on behalf of the ATKV Arendsnes Branch was Hannes Nel (Treasurer), Joe le Roux (Chairperson), and Josef Oosthuizen (Vice Chairperson).
