Siblings paddlers likely to be selected

The siblings enjoyed participation at the Arnold Classic 2019 Sports Festival, and being able to meet the famous Arnold Schwarzenegger himself.

Megan and Matthew Eckhart from Weltevreden Park are among the canoe polo paddlers who are likely to be selected for the teams to participate in the South African Canoe Polo Championships.

The Championships will take place at Emmarentia Dam, over the weekend of 21 to 22 March 2020 and will be hosted by Dabulamanzi Canoe Club.

Matthew Eckhart studies design in Greenside and has represented Gauteng in Canoe Polo as well as Sprints and has represented South Africa three times at the African champs.

Apart from aiming for the SA Canoe Polo Champs, Matthew is also trying out for the Under 21 team that will be going to world champions in Rome.

His sister, Megan is currently in Matric and has also represented the Gauteng Canoe Polo team on three occasions and represented South Africa twice in the Africa Championships, as well as overseas at various tournaments.

Polo is a fun water sport game, a lot like rugby and numerous paddlers who enjoy the challenging sport are currently training for the Championships.
