Help little fighter take a step closer to a milestone
Every bit helps to give this boy a chance of reaching a milestone that is important for any child
Imagine having to live with excruciating pains in your body from the moment you were born, and the possibility of never being able to walk?
That’s the life little three-year-old Brodie Snyman has been leading. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth, secondary asthma and scoliosis, the latter affecting his hips. Although he does not develop at the same pace as other children his age, and will not reach the same milestones as they do, this little fighter never gives up.

Brodie has fought every battle and his parents, Louise and Shaun, are very proud and grateful of the progress he has made. At first he was on oxygen permanently, but last year Louise shared the news of Brodie being able to go without oxygen for six hours per day, and now can do so for longer than a month. According to his parents, his eyesight has also improved a lot.
Unfortunately, Brodie’s hips are on the verge of dislocating. He needs special medical treatment that will cost R118 000, to help his hips and back develop normally so that one day he will be able to achieve the milestone of being able to walk. A fundraiser that was held last year to help collect the money needed for the treatment, unfortunately not even yielded a quarter of the money.
Even though Brodie’s parents have medical aid, it does not cover Brodie’s medication, some of the doctors’ fees and treatments. Brodie is receiving Botox injections every six months to help alleviate the pain in his hips, muscles and back, for which his parents pay the anaesthesiologist out of their own pockets.
Although Louise and Shaun experienced a financial crisis last year, they continue desperately to try and find any way possible to collect the money needed to pay for Brodie’s treatments, the medical aid, his monthly medication, and to give their three children the best life they possibly can offer.

“It was an extremely difficult year for us to cope financially. Every day was a struggle to pay for everything and ensure we had food on the table. Most importantly, we always have to ensure that we get everything Brodie needs. We are so grateful towards everybody who has been there for us in our times of need,” Louise stated.
According to Louise they are looking into opening a trust fund for Brodie, which requires a lot of money. But there is a silver lining – they have found an attorney who will help them set up the trust, but they still need to raise the amount required to set it up.
The family is crying out for any help and donations to get treatment for Brodie’s back and hips, to buy his medication and still meet the needs of their household. These two determined parents will do anything to help their son reach his important milestones. “Please, we are begging for donations, but only if you are able to,” Louise added.
Anyone willing to help or donate is requested to please contact Louise on 084 457 7050 or Shaun on 061 387 2301. Every bit helps.
Give and you shall receive.
