A combination of hard work, prayer and support from parents and teachers is what Mr Ken Langley, the principal of The King’s School West Rand (TKSWR), believes drove his school to yet another successful year of matric results.
As many Independent Examination Board (IEB) registered schools, TKSWR opened its doors on Tuesday 7 January for learners to collect their much-anticipated results.
This year the Poortview-based private institution boasts a 100 per cent pass rate, with 98 per cent learners securing university entrance and over 60 distinctions this year. On top of these remarkable achievements, the school has one of its learners, Michael Germanus, in the top one per cent achievers in the country for Mathematics.
“We are very proud of Michael and all our learners who did well. We are also thankful to God – He carried us through,” an incredibly proud Langley said.
Michael, the maths wiz, reflected on his results. “I feel very happy and I’m glad that the work I had put in paid off. If you put in a lot of effort and study smart instead of hard, better results can be achieved,” he said. He expressed his gratitude towards God and described his results as a miracle.
As he is about to pave a new way for himself, Michael plans to study mechanical engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand. He also intends to share his extensive knowledge of maths as a private tutor.
