Four suspects aged 26, 24, 27 and 3, were arrested on 19 December 2019 for a murder that occurred in the Video Informal Settlement, Rietfontein.
It is alleged that a 21-year-old victim was stabbed several times on his upper body on Tuesday, 17 December. The victim was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The matter was reported to the police on Thursday, 19 December, by the victim’s mother, and on the same day, four suspects were arrested.
One of the suspects was in possession of a firearm, and a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm was added.
In a media statement from the office of the Muldersdrift Police, the Station Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mankontsho Setlhare, said, “Four firearms have been removed from the streets, I applaud the dedicated detective for their sharp detective skills and quick reaction to the apprehension of the suspects.”
The motive of the murder is unknown as the matter is still under investigation, the suspects will appear in court soon.
