‘This was my blessing – thank you!’

What a year! This year was blessed but also tragic. We received the much-needed rain, but suffered damaging floods. We have gained some new members in the community, but also lost some who were dear to us. But we still celebrate the blessings we’ve received, and for me it was being able to be a voice for the community through my passion for writing.

Thank you for accepting me into your community and allowing me tell your stories. I am surely blessed to have become part of this community and to be a voice in every way possible.

I know I can have my ‘blond moments’ as we would call them, but I found my passion and my talent. My role model and favourite philosopher and writer, Allan Watts, said, “So far as words are concerned, I can express ideas and help others express themselves through language and literature. I intensely enjoy the arts and skill of writing a story, although it can be difficult, but it’s fascinating, to say what can never possibly be said.” And for me, to be part of telling your stories, is a feeling of joy that cannot be described.

We are ending another year and getting ready to greet the next year’s blessings. In this time we ought to think of the mistakes we have made and make our ‘what-not-to-do’ list for next year; but everything that happens, everything that I or anybody else has ever done, is part of a harmonious creation for what is to come.

I thank each and every one in the community who has made my life’s dream of being a a journalist come true, for you are the life of my work. Without you, there would have been nothing. This year has been superlative, and I can’t wait to see you again next year! May you have a blessed Christmas and New Year.
