A lot of life lessons learned

Today I am proud to be doing everything that I can to make a difference in the Roodepoort community.

It is hard to believe that we have come to the end of the year 2019, which was filled with so much joy, lessons and emotional episodes.

I remember when I first came into the Caxton West Rand offices to shadow at my new job as a sports journalist, the excitement and mixed emotions that existed within me.

The first article that I had to research and carefully construct was that of the young warrior, Shanaya Govender who passed on earlier this year.

Having met her family and relatives, I have learned a lot in life, especially having to be strong when the going gets tough and just keep fighting, like she courageously did.

Although I never met Shanaya, I feel like I have known her for a long time. She has taught me a lot, especially about cancer. Today I am proud to be doing everything that I can to make a difference in the Roodepoort community.

Thank you so much to the West Rand community for being so welcoming and showing me the warmer side of your hearts.

Have a merry Christmas and a happy new year with your loved ones. I am looking forward to being among this beautiful community in 2020 and try my very best to educate and inform.
