Xmas lunch plea for on-duty officers
Jon Rosenberg has dedicated every Christmas to providing delicious meals to the on-duty officers at Honeydew Police Station.
While families will congregate on Christmas Day to celebrate being with their loved ones and spend this special day eating the finest dishes and spoiling one another with presents, spare a thought for those who don’t have the same luxury due to their professions.
Some who come to mind are police officers and emergency services personnel who work 365 days a year, including Christmas, never getting to enjoy the festivities of this holiday because of their demanding jobs.
This is why for the past 10 years, the outgoing Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) public relations officer, Jon Rosenberg, has dedicated every Christmas to providing delicious meals to the on-duty officers at Honeydew Police Station.
These meals are made possible by donations from the public. This year he again appeals to the community to donate whatever they can to support the cause.
“The meals are purchased with monies donated by Residents Associations and the residents. When the money is raised, I place an order at a restaurant for the number of police officers who will be on duty on Christmas Day, and have the meals delivered to the station,” Rosenberg explained.
To contribute to the on-duty police officers’ Christmas lunch, contact Jon Rosenberg via cellphone on 082 450 2350 and email at jon@jrestates.co.za to get the CPF’s banking details.
