Sergeant Santa brings joy and smiles

A four-legged K9 Unit member was there as well, enjoying the attention from all the kids and at Ann Harding two ex-policemen were glad to have their old colleagues pay them a visit.

Saturday, 23 November, saw the Honeydew Police reservists together with the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) hosting the annual Montgomery Police Toy Run.

The convoy visited Ann Harding Cheshire Home for the disabled, Golden Harvest Retirement Home, Baby Moses, Kids Haven and the local hospitals, which included Life Wilgeheuwel and Netcare Olivedale Hospitals.

This annual event has been hosted for the last 10 years and is popular among community members.

The objective is to bring joy and smiles to the community that these members serve in and create a positive experience with the South African Police during the festive season in a campaign aimed at the protection of women, children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

Sergeant Santa Claus came with presents and treats for all those he came across on the day and left some heart-warming smiles.

The event was held in honour of the late Warrant Officer Jonathan Montgomery, who served in the Child Protection Unit for 22 years and passed away in 2017.

The Johannesburg Flying Squad and West Rand K9 Unit were also in attendance to show their support for Santa and his helpers.
