Word of the day

The word of the day for 2 December is: Innovation.

The Cambridge Dictionary defines ‘innovation’ as a new idea or method; or the use of new ideas and methods.

To be innovative we need to be creative, open-minded, and willing to take risks.

Albert Einstein said, “We cannot solve a problem by using the same kind of thinking we used to create them”.

We need to think of things in ways that no one else would to find new solutions to a problem. If you are innovative, you can look at things in a way no one else does and solve a problem no one else could. Steve Jobs said, “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower”.

You can have good ideas and be creative in the way you put them to fruition, but you also need constructive criticism, and you need to know that not everyone will agree with you.

Margaret Heffernan said, “For good ideas and true innovation, you need human interaction, conflict, argument, and debate”.
