Generous donation helps Business Forum

The Ward 71 Business Forum receives a generous donation for their future projects.

The Ward 71 Business Forum is made up of small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) that work on construction projects throughout their community.

They try to participate in as many community projects as possible. Not only because, at the end of the day, they are the beneficiaries, but also because these projects help create much-needed job opportunities.

“We try to get involved in any project in our area because we, as the community, are the beneficiaries of these projects. So we need to make sure the infrastructure is good, nothing goes wrong, and nothing bad happens,” said Mdu Myeza, chairperson of the Forum.

A company named Salaat Technologies is currently building a network tower in Grobler Park. They were inspired by the Business Forum’s ambition to work on all construction projects, but unfortunately, the project is almost complete so there was nothing the Forum could help with when they approached the company.

As a way to help, Salaat Technologies and one of the main subcontracting companies on the project, American Tower, decided they would donate tools to help the Forum with their future projects.

On Thursday, 21 November, Mdu was joined in Grobler Park by Tshidi Maseko (the Forum’s secretary), Sibongile Mdalose (treasurer), and Mathys van Rensburg, chairperson of the Western Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch. At the construction site Mdu and his team accepted the donation of 15 picks and 15 shovels from Nico Claassen, Salaat Technologies’ project manager, with Mathys bearing witness.

The Forum accepted the donations with immense joy and appreciation, welcoming the tools that would help make their jobs easier and better.
