Honeydew Toastmasters provides a learning experience

‘Iota’ was the word of the evening and refers to something very small. If you don't care one iota about something, it means you don't care about it even one little bit.

Confidence and personal growth was the order of the day when the Honeydew Toastmasters Club (HTC) held their meeting on Monday 25 November at Christ Church in Weltevreden Park.

The meeting started at 7pm with Sergeant At Arms, Carmina Dos Santos’s call to order followed by HTC President, Philip Howes welcoming everyone present.

Before the well-prepared speeches were delivered exceptionally, all the guests had an opportunity to introduce themselves and the roles of the members were explained.

The first speaker was Caleb Mcaravey who spoke about ‘entitled response’ that left the audience with more knowledge on the subject.

The second speaker was the outspoken Licinda Harman who has been with the Toastmasters since 2018. Her topic was ‘grey is the new black’.

The last speaker was the fascinating Sharon Costello who worked as a social worker in the US for two years.

Carmina said, “Honeydew Toastmasters has been around for 26 years. It doesn’t only teach you to become a better speaker – you gain great listening and leadership skills, and it is the platform to practise your next presentation.”

Toastmasters has been going for 95 years with new heights being reached every year worldwide.
