Queen Butterfly brings Bluebelle to life

The Queen Butterfly Foundation is celebrating its newly released book with a performance by its learners.

The Queen Butterfly Foundation has achieved quite a lot of success with the release of its book, entitled Bluebelle Loves Springtime.

Julie Botha wrote and illustrated this book to help raise money for new educational devices needed by the school, which caters for children with profound physical and mental disabilities. The centre is very close to her heart; not only because her daughter is a learner there, but because she has formed a close bond with the founder, Palesa Mofokeng.

Palesa met Julie when she became one of the staff members at Pathways Roodepoort under the supervision and guidance of Julie. Since the opening of Palesa’s centre, the friendship between the two women has grown immensely.

The book was officially released on 28 September and gained the admiration of Roodepoort residents, who then purchased it to support the foundation. After the successful release, the foundation decided to take their passion for the book to the next level by bringing Bluebelle to life.

As a way to say thank you to the residents who have supported them, and to hopefully increase book sales, the learners of the Queen Butterfly Foundation will be performing a play based on the book on Saturday, 16 November.

The play, which will be performed by the talented learners, will feature the enabling equipment that the funds of this book helped purchase. There is no entrance fee for the performance, but copies of the book will be sold at R100 per copy.

The play will be held at the Foundation’s premises at the Wilropark Baptist Church from 11am to 12 noon, and all are welcome to attend.

It is a performance that is not to be missed and will be sure to make you and your family smile. For more information on the event, contact Palesa on 081 795 7531. To find out more about the Foundation and its goals, visit the Queen Butterfly website https://www.queenbutterfly.org.za.
